Neville, on Gaming in G.O.D.D.:

I had a profound earthquake-like experience over the last 10 days. It might even have been a slipstreaming event. I'm pretty sure this was caused by playing the vertical grappling game. My experience was much more than a flash of enlightenment, or a breakthrough in awareness after a long period of struggle. I just woke up in another world and suddenly, I had a sudden understanding that many of my business and personal relationships were completely out of whack, based on false premises, unhealthy for me and the other people, and I could see the futility of continuing without revamping almost everything about how I conduct my business and the people I do business with. Without going into the boring details, for some reason, I just skipped from my former awareness to apparently, a new vantage point where everything looks different. My awareness seems to have instantly taken a quantum jump to the next electron ring. I'm not sure how or when the jumping point occurred. One minutes I was there, and the next moment I was here . . .

I remember downloading and starting the game. I got burned up a couple of times and then, proceeding more carefully, my character made it to a large room with some chests and magic finds. I left the room and wandered around some more, but could find no other way to advance. Returning to the room, the corridor behind me disappeared and I found myself marooned on a large flat, paved area with no way to escape. I went around the edges several times to orient myself with the cardinal points. After a few circuits, I confirmed that I was, in fact, on an island surrounded by lava with no way out. I gradually became more and more frustrated. Finally, a house guest who had stopped by the computer area sat down to watch me as I was searching around the island for a possible escape route. She asked if I had looked up. When I did, I saw walls above me and I realized that I could use the grappling hook to climb out. From there I went far and wide. I was really scared of the heights, clinging to my chair as my character clung to the walls, then having no other choice, springing out across the abyss toward the next surface. I played for a couple of hours. When I got up from my desk, the world looked the same, but everything was completely different.

This video game is powerful. Thanks! I needed that.
